A minute of angle (MOA) is 10cm at 100 metres (or 1m at 1000m). Rangefinding works by placing the target (1.5m = 5' - 5'11" - average human height or 0.5m - machine-gunner) between the horizontal and the top reclining line with numbers. On the reclining line locate the number closest to the point where the target touches the line and multiple that by 100 and this will give you the distance to the target in metres (1 metre = 1.11 yards)
